Box Motion flow wrapper available with options

In-line pre-creasing and gusseting device offer reduced costs and added flexibility for manufacturers and packers of gourmet sandwiches, snack foods & confectionery.

Paramount Packaging has added a new in-line pre–creasing feature and standard gusseting device to its Fuji Alpha VII FW3710B box motion horizontal flow–wrapper. These latest enhancements enable the low maintenance, simple to use and energy efficient system to produce on-trend Block Bottom Gable Top Bags.

More commonly referred to as ‘grab bags’, these eye-catching packs are becoming increasingly popular amongst UK retailers for wrapping gourmet sandwich ranges, whilst they are widely used overseas for multipacks of snacks and confectionery products.

John Roberts, Managing Director at Paramount Packaging comments: “Block Bottom Gable Top bags are a popular pack style as the flat base allows the product to be displayed upright on a shelf for maximum appeal and brand impact, whilst also offering a ‘hand-picked’ look. Until now, food processors and packers generally had to invest in a flow–wrapping system purpose designed for this type of bag. However, Fuji’s significant global experience with this pack style allows for the addition of standard options to the Fuji Alpha VII to achieve not only the Block Bottom Gable Top bag but also with the flexibility to produce a wide range of other packs.

This innovative technical enhancement gives customers added functionality and a more flexible and cost-effective packaging solution that provides quick changeover between different pack styles,” he concludes.

Capable of producing up to 80 block bottom gable top packs per minute, Paramount Packaging’s Alpha II box motion horizontal flow–wrapper also offers airtight sealing for high-speed gas flushing or modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) applications.

With advanced heat pipe end seal technology, faster temperature control and high-pressure sealers, the box motion horizontal flow–wrapper offers reduced energy usage and hermetic sealing making it ideal for high-speed gas flushing or MAP applications where extended shelf life is a key requirement.

Due to the additional dwell time, the FW3710B can seal thicker wrapping materials so is better suited to handling taller and heavier products. Other models in the Fuji box motion series are FW–3400B, FW3410B, FW3700B and FW–3710BSB.

The Alpha VII series has been specially designed by Fuji to incorporate energy saving technology, further improve production efficiencies and reduce operating costs. A key feature is the Fuji Vision System (FVS) which is integrated into the film drive roller housing and helps ensure product integrity by checking film tracking, image and joints, label application and print legibility, as well as barcode verification and optical character recognition (OCR).

Two-inch colour touch screen and operator interface can be customised using images, words and illustrations for simplicity and fast and accurate diagnostics. A front-facing USB port facilitates machine back up and allows product data to be uploaded easily.
